Digital Eye Health Exams

Horvath Vision Care Northwoods combines the precision of advanced digital technology with the personalized touch of our skilled optometrists to protect your precious sight. Our eye doctors use information obtained from our patient-friendly digital equipment to fine tune your glasses and contact lens prescriptions. Making a comprehensive eye examination part of your routine healthcare regimen will protect the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision for a lifetime.

Our experienced eye doctors review your overall medical history and gather relevant information on your eye health, in addition to checking the health of your eyes and assessing your vision through a series of comfortable tests. Digital measurements will pinpoint your visual prescriptions so you’ll see your best. For most people this means no more “which is better….. 1 or 2” guesswork. We also do testing to determine the patient’s ability to focus and coordinate the eyes, and to judge depth, see colors accurately, as well as vision conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

Our optometrists also examine the internal and external structure of your eyes to diagnose and manage eye disease. As part of your comprehensive eye exam, you are also screened for eye diseases that can lead to vision loss. Many eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and retinal disorders; systemic diseases like hypertension and diabetes, demonstrate few if any overt signs or symptoms until irreparable damage to your eyesight has occurred. Detecting diseases that can threaten your eyesight in their earliest stages enables the most effective management and care.

Digital Eye Exams

Common systemic conditions detected on a routine eye examination include:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Impending stroke and heart attack
  • Neurologic disease including multiple sclerosis and brain tumors
  • Autoimmune disease including systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjogren’s syndrome

After a complete analysis of your visual system and eye health, our doctors will review the results while explaining how to preserve visual quality and prevent deterioration of eye health. In addition to answering any questions you may have, we will determine what type of visual correction is best recommended depending on each patient’s individual needs.

Our doctors are the primary gatekeepers for many of their patients, and work very closely with area physicians and specialists to ensure complete care for all patients. Regular comprehensive eye exams are key to the early detection and treatment of sight-threatening diseases. Early detection and treatment offer the best hope of preserving the sight that remains.
