Who Is a Good Candidate for Scleral Lenses?
Scleral contact lenses are a great option for patients that are facing challenges of an irregular cornea due to keratoconus, dry eye or corneal disease, irregular astigmatism, or complications from corneal transplants, LASIK, RK, or PRK. Patients who were never able to wear disposable contact lenses can experience the comfort and freedom that come with contact lenses!
What Is the Cost?
Oftentimes vision insurances can assist with your out-of-pocket cost for scleral contact lenses. We will work with you on a case-by-case basis to determine what your insurance benefits will contribute towards your scleral lens evaluation and scleral contact lenses.
How Do I Get Scleral Lenses?
At Horvath Vision Care Northwoods, Dr. Lara Leach specializes in fitting scleral contact lenses. We will see you for a contact lens evaluation with Dr. Leach to determine if scleral lenses are the right vision solution for you! At this appointment a technician will take measurements of the surfaces of your eyes and Dr. Leach will fit you for your scleral lenses.
Scleral contact lenses are custom made to fit your eyes. Because of this, we will order your scleral lenses from our lab and see you back for a follow up appointment after the lenses have been made. At this visit, our staff will teach you how to properly clean and wear your new scleral contact lenses to maximize vision and minimize potential risks. Dr. Leach will check the vision in your contacts and the fit of the lenses to your eyes, making any adjustments to your custom contact lenses at that time.
We are committed to finding the best possible solution for YOU!
