Is eye pain an emergency?
Eye pain is not normal and is best to be evaluated by your experienced Northwoods doctor. Eye pain can result from an obvious eye injury to a serious time-sensitive condition. Eye pain also is frequently accompanied by blurred vision, redness (bloodshot eyes) and sensitivity to light. Here are possible causes of eye pain:
- Eye injury
- Corneal ulcer
- Corneal abrasion/foreign body
- Sleeping in your contact lenses
- Acute angle closure glaucoma
Vision is endangered by many things, but some of the most prevalent causes of vision loss are diseases of the eye. Eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinitis pigmentosa, retinal detachments, macular edema and complications resulting from diabetes and high blood pressure also threaten the sight of thousands of Americans each year.
The eye doctors at Horvath Vision Care Northwoods are trained in diagnosing and treating eye diseases. If you notice an onset of flashing lights, floaters, part of your vision being missing or impaired, double vision, pain, or any changes in your vision that concern you or want evaluated, we will promptly have you examined by our doctors.
Sight is precious, and once it is lost, even partially lost, it may be impossible to recover.
